Travel Trailers
Travel trailers are the most popular RV type in North America, full stop — they outsell every other class combined. You park them, set up at camp, then unhitch and drive your tow vehicle around without dragging the camper everywhere. They range from sub-$15K teardrop trailers under 1,500 lbs to 40-foot residential-class models above $80K. The trade-off: you need a properly-equipped tow vehicle, and backing into a campsite has a learning curve.

- Anyone who already owns a capable tow vehicle

Not for

Frequently asked questions
What size tow vehicle do I need for a travel trailer?
Match your trailer's GVWR (not dry weight) to no more than 80% of your tow vehicle's rated capacity. A half-ton truck (F-150, Silverado 1500, Ram 1500) can handle most trailers under 7,500 lbs GVWR. Larger trailers require a 3/4-ton or 1-ton truck.
Do you need a weight-distribution hitch?
Almost always yes for any travel trailer over 5,000 lbs. WDH reduces sag, improves steering, and is required by many manufacturers to maintain warranty.
